Chow Mein | Veg Chowmein Recipe

 Here is a simple and delicious recipe for Chowmein:



Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces dried chow mein noodles

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 large carrot, sliced into thin matchsticks

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced into thin strips

  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms

  • 8 ounces sliced cooked chicken (optional)

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 green onions, sliced


Instructions:

  1. Cook the chow mein noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain and set aside. 
  2. In a large wok or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and red bell pepper and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Add the mushrooms, chicken (if using), soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked noodles and continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the noodles are fully coated in the sauce and the vegetables are evenly distributed.
  6. Turn off the heat and stir in the green onions.
  7. Serve the chow mein hot, garnished with extra green onions, if desired.
